I am an IT executive with very little time to remain the handyman that I once was. While relocating to the Eastern Shore, I needed someone to finish the attic of my 2-story home promptly. I asked around and four contractors were recommended to me. All four contractors were invited to visit the property for the purposes of providing me with cost estimates.
This is what makes Brian exceptional in my opinion: he took the time to understand all the requirements of the project, including my time constraints. He quickly recognized that getting 35 sheets of drywall up to the 3rd floor and trying to finish a 350 square feet room in less than a week was not an easy task.
Shipe, however, went beyond what most contractors would do. He demonstrated his professionalism in a way to earn my trust and confidence. Not only did he deliver a cost estimate to me in less than 6 hours after he had visited the property, but he also agreed to begin the work the following morning. Brian worked 12 hours on a Saturday, then 12 hours the following Sunday to finish hanging all the drywall..
In order to accommodate his family life along with existing work commitments, Shipe rearranged his schedule to be more flexible. In fact, he did not mind showing up at my house between 5 am and 8am to finish sanding and vacuuming the work area.
Three weeks after Brian had finished my attic, two of the other contractors from whom I requested quotes, finally sent me their estimates. The 4th contractor, on the other hand, never followed up with a response.
As far as I am concerned, I plan on contacting Shipe Builders for my projects for many years to come, and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for good workmanship."
